This is the Canadian Light Rail Vehicle. For more than 40 years, it has transported people from place to place in Toronto, one of the few new world cities to not rip up their tram network in favour of buses.

This is the Avro Canada Arrow. A rather legendary plane for Canadians, mostly due to the project being shelved by then Prime Minister John Diefenbaker.

What do these two things have in common? Hawker-Siddeley Canada. Hawker-Siddeley manufactured the CLRV, and after the failure of the Arrow, bought out Avro Canada. Later, Hawker-Siddeley Canada was purchased by a little company called Bombardier, who make a lot of things.

Well, technically the ATVs and snowmobiles and such aren’t actually made by Bombardier these days, they’re made by BRP, a company founded by Bombardier spinning off their recreational products division. These days the original Bombardier only make serious stuff like planes and trains.
